IMDB rating: 8.10 Plot: It is the year 35 of the Vulgar Era. The Emperor Tiberius is troubled by strange phenomena, an earthquake and the sky turning black as an eclipse. His astrologers give him fair warning: their omens indicate that the world is in the throes of a great upheaval and that old gods have been annihilated. A new kingdom is about to rise in the East. The Emperor calls Tito Valerio Tauro, the most prominent investigator in Rome, back from his exile. He was ostracized years earlier because he had discovered too much regarding the death of the great Emperor Augustus, the predecessor of Tiberius. Tiberius entrusts Tauro with a mission that will require all his talent: should he conduct it successfully, his good name will be completely restored. He must discover the truth regarding the death sentence of a poor Judean rabbi. His name is Jesus of Nasareth and they say he has resurrected from the dead. Tiberius is convinced that it has something to do with the prophecies and the celestial omens that shook the world some months earlier. Tauro is a septic and the only thing he believes in is reason, but a series of mysteries that will put his intelligence to the test awaits him in Judea. Nothing is as it seems in Jerusalem. Governor Pilate is an ambiguous man, both discredited and treacherous, who weaves his way among the opposing Pharisee and Zealot factions. During his inquiry, Tauro comes face-to-face with individuals he has never met before: Saul of Tarsus, a valiant defender of Mosaic tradition and an unshakable prosecutor of Christians; the mysterious and nearly insane Judas of Iscariot, who is presumably one of the disciples of Jesus of Nasareth; and the alleged leader of the Christians, a poor fisherman named Shimon Peter. They are humble and powerful men, belonging to one faction or the other, but who share one obsession: an idea of faith that the Roman eyes of Tauro seems to be simply incomprehensible and quite dangerous. He withstands this idea with all his might. He believes that Jesus is only a quack, some kind of impostor and his presumed resurrection must be a public hoax staged in order to exploit the credulousness of the poor lot, the first to be converted to the Christian sect, the followers of Jesus, nearly all of them belonging to the lowest social levels of society: fishermen, farmers, even slaves – all of them treated as free men. And the same holds true, more surprisingly yet, for women – equal to men in the eyes of the Christian God. One of these women who believe in Jesus will finally offer Tauro the key to understanding the mystery of Jesus of Nasareth’s death and conclude the mission that the Emperor has entrusted him with. Her name is Tabitha. She is not yet twenty years old and she will unveil the mystery of love to the cleverest and most disenchanted Roman investigator. |

Is it considered breaking lease by not giving 30 day notice of moving due to circumstance even if lease is up?
The Assistant manager who was the former secretary asked over a month before the lease would be up if we were going to move to which I replied it was still unknown. Then when I returned to pay the rent for the final month I was asked again by the former ass. manager which I assumed was the new manager to which I replied more than likely yes due to me having a baby soon and the income changing. They also called and asked I guess as a review to which I replied yes it’s more definitive that we will have to. To which there was no rebuttal or questions. Yet as the bills rolled in it, we realized we didn’t have enough to make next months rent, now no longer the leased rate even if we wanted to. So we applied somewhere else and they sent a rental verification form to the office. Who called so upset about not getting a 30 day notice that we were moving even though 2 out of 3 inquiries were answered "yes" ending with a definitive yes. The newly appointed manager alleges he came by to speak about the lease but I’m home all day and never got a visitor. I did happen to find a notice saying simply "your lease is up in a (hand written 30) days." No please call office or notify us. A letter telling me what I already knew. Now we will be out before next monday but will they have grounds for any legal recourse? They have at least 6 other apartments like our floor plan vacant and ready to move in, so we aren’t hindering them from acquiring new tenants. If anything they are feeling the sting of yet another building being on the brink of becoming empty because their rent is simply too high.
Since your lease ended it switched to month to month. Most leases have a part in it that says either 30 or 45 days nottice is required. You told them yes but your nottice has to be written. They could keep your security deposit if you had to leave one. They could also take you to court for it. I would suggest going in and sitting down with the manager to explain exactly what happened. They may decide to just let you go. Just remember to be nice and respectful no matter how much of a jerk the manager can turn out to be because ultimately it his / her decision on what happens next.

When you get to the end of a lease, they automatically renew as month to month. So by not telling them in WRITING that you would be leaving, you have obligated yourself to another month’s rent.

Exactly when is your lease due to expire? If it expired on November 30, 2009 and if you are still living in the premises you would be considered "holding-over" thus converting to a month-to -month tenancy. By being a month-to month tenant now you are required to give a 30 Day Notice. If you are holding-over for a few days offer to pay the rent for those few days that you will be in the premises. Also ask for a final walk-through inspection.
If you move out before or on the day your lease expires you are not required to give notice that you are vacating the premises because the lease itself is notice to all parties. This is true in most, if not in all states.

Estranged husband filed false 1099misc on grown daughter to cause problems for her to get to me?
After almost 40 years & 4 grown children, I’m finally divorcing my controlling,physically.verbally/emotionally abusive husband. He has always controlled all the finances and I have had very little if any knowledge of what actually goes on with finances. We had an emergency hearing a month ago and the Judge did a no contact order on him, so he cannot have any contact with me Right off the bat he disconnected our daughter’s phone which was his company plan, then he had her car insurance dropped from his company plan, then on top of that he told the insurance company that the car was housed out of state (which it had been for several years before as she was at college out of state & he paid it all along) so that she has to pay for taxes,tags & registration in another state when it was paid up until next Nov.
Then, just yesterday she got 1099misc in the mail from his accountant saying he paid her $11000.00 this last year which is FALSE. She printed out all her bank statements which showed each and every deposit made into her account this last year.( She lives several states away and has a full time job). Other than her bi monthly direct deposits that show up each month, there is only a handful of other deposits made to her account none of them more than $200. Does anyone know what she can do to dispute this?
Tax fraud is a federal crime. She should file a police report. His harassment may have pissed her off enough to do just that.

Since she is an adult, then she has to deal with this herself; you can’t do it for her.
But my advice is for her to turn him in to the IRS. They will then investigate and he will have to produce evidence that he paid her. He sounds pretty shady, so don’t be surprised if there is a bank account somewhere in your daughter’s name that has his name on it also…maybe an account he opened for her (or without her knowledge) when she was a minor. If he made direct deposits to her account, or transferred money from a business account to her account, then it will look like he did indeed "pay" her the money.
But your daughter needs to be proactive. She might want to call the accountant first and ask why she received a 1099 from her dad. Tell her to play innocent, like she doesn’t know what a 1099 is and get as much information as she can. Then tell her to call her dad and get more detailed information. Then have her call the IRS and report everything she knows to them.
Honestly, he must be a complete moron if he doesn’t see that this is not hurting you, it’s hurting his daughter.

How unfortunate that he’s attempting to punish you by lashing out at your child.
A 1099 may be issued if a company paid a non-employee more than $600. So, if your ex was sending money to his daughter from company accounts, he may be legally obligated to issue the 1099. If the amount he is alleging he paid out to her does not equal the amount she received from him, then there are problems.
Your daughter needs to contact an accountant of her own, to have a proper audit of any income from her father. Once her accountant has established what deposits may have come from her father, she needs to contact her father’s accountant to get an amended 1099 from him. If there’s no proof she ever received any income from her father, then she’ll need to report this to the IRS, as this is blatant fraud.

A man stood on the pavement. He looked to his left, then to his right, then again to his left. The streets were deserted. He scrambled himself to the second floor window. Commending his soul to god, he jumped from the pipe and grasped the window sill. To open the window and enter the room was for him the work of a moment. He stood, surveying the place like a detective on the lookout for a criminal. The room housed a bed, a worn out sofa, an electric fan and a chest of drawers. Two doors made themselves visible to the man. One led to the streets and one to the restroom. The man crouched beside the chest of drawers. He was shivering like a criminal confronted by a detective. He took a hairpin out and injected it in the keyhole of one drawer.
